Muse Says Including Songs on "Twilight" Soundtrack Was Like "Selling Soul"

04/08/2010

Muse bassist Chris Wolstenholme says that allowing the Twilight franchise to use Muse songs seems a bit like "selling your soul."

Wolstenholme told the BBC in an interview that while he had doubts about the group's music being linked to the teen vampire series, being included in the soundtracks had boosted the band's exposure in the US and given them a leg-up in a difficult market.

Each of the three Twilight soundtracks – Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse – has featured a Muse song: "Supermassive Black Hole" on the first; "I Belong to You" on the second and "Neutron Star Collision" on the third.

What's more, author Stephanie Meyer acknowledged the band in her dedication on the second book , thanking the "rock gods of Muse, for yet another inspiring album."

Meyer said Muse was her "favorite writing music."

Muse, together for 12 years, is planning to start work on its sixth album next year. For now, according to Wolstenholme, the band is busy with its tour and then plans to take some time off.
