Chelsea Football Club is a professional English football club based in West London. The Chelsea FC Team, founded on March 14, 1905 at the Rising Sun Pub, is a top ranking Premier League team. Chelsea has been named English champions three times; it won the FA Cup five times, the League Cup four times and the UEFA Cup twice.
Chelsea FC had its first major success in 1955, when it won the league championship. The 1960s and 1970s saw Chelsea win several championships, but unfortunately, the team's winning streak soon ended and Chelsea FC did not win another major football title until 1997. The past 10 years have been the most successful in Chelsea’s history, as the team won consecutive Premier League titles in 2005 and 2006, and their first UEFA Champions League final in 2008.

Legendary Arsenal and England center-forward Ted Drake took over as manger of the Chelsea Football club in 1952 and is credited with modernizing it. He removed the club's Chelsea pensioner crest, improved the youth set-up and training regime, rebuilt the side, and led Chelsea to their first major trophy success – the 1954-55 League championship win.
Chelsea FC's home stadium is the Stamford Bridge Football Stadium in West London. In 2003, the Chelsea Football Club was bought by Russian tycoon Roman Abramovich.

Chelsea's traditional uniform colors are royal blue with white socks. The club crest has been changed several times in attempts to modernize it, and today it depicts a ceremonial lion holding a staff – a modified version of the image first adopted in the 1950s.
Over the years, Chelsea gained a reputation for signing big-name players, but no one has yet to beat goalscoring winger and striker Bobby Tambling's 202 goals, which remain a club record.
